Before I talk about the project, I’d like to give a big shoutout and thank you to Kyle and Josh over at Shoddycast for using my guitar playing in their videos. That has inspired me a bit in this direction. They do a weekly webcast about the upcoming 2014 “Elder Scrolls Online” game, you can see their channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/ShoddyCast/videos?view=1&flow=grid
This new project is arranging music from the Elder Scrolls games for classical guitar. The original compositions by Eric Heberling and Jeremy Soule are beloved by many, and have contributed largely to my own enjoyment of the games.
There are samples on my Soundcloud page:
To See what other musical and random things I’m up to, check out my youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/MichaelHTillman
I’m going to be arranging music from all of the games (including Redguard, once I locate a copy of the soundtrack!)
Please give a listen and let me know what you think.
The Helios Ensemble, a sixteen-voice chamber choir founded by Kevin Sutton, will be hosting a wine-tasting fundraiser hosted by local radio personality Rick Vanderslice the evening of February 2nd at a private residence near White Rock Lake in Dallas. Rick, winner of the Katie Award for excellence in journalism, is a well known talk-show host on both radio and television.
Musical entertainment will be provided by classical guitar virtuoso Michael Tillman, and wine samples will be provided by The Wine Therapist. Funds raised at the event will go to support The Helios Ensemble Sustaining Fund, a non-profit dedicated to supporting the chamber choir.
To reserve a place at the event, contact Helios Ensemble Artistic
Director Kevin Sutton at (214) 455-8380
Kevin Sutton founded The Helios Ensemble in 1993 as a 5-voice chamber choir. By 1999 it had grown to a 24-voice choir. Today the group consists of sixteen singers. Kevin’s background in music dates back to 1986 when he graduated with a Vocal Performance degree from Ball State University. Since then he has earned a Master of Church Music degree from Scarritt Graduate School and pursued additional studies as a conductor.
Michael Tillman has been playing the guitar for over 20 years and pursued it professionally as a career for the past decade. He graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 2012 with a Bachelors degree in Music, specializing in guitar, voice, and cello. Michael is continuing his education in music through graduate school at the University of Texas at Dallas. So far Michael has released two full-length albums and his third album, with a working title of International, is expected to be released in late 2013.
I was honored to play for the Carroll/Stiesberg wedding yesterday at the Wildwood Inn in Denton. I had not been acquainted prior with the Wildwood, it’s a beautiful little setting tucked back off of Lillian Miller. The ceremony was outside, and then we moved in to the main seatin area. I played the first hour of the reception before the playlist started the daning.
For the processional, I played Vivaldi’s Adagio (from the Concerto for Lute and Strings) and Lagrima by Francisco Tarrega. For the recessional, I arranged “It’s Now or Never” by Elvis Presley.
I look forward to being out at the Wildwood again. Many thanks to the families for making me so welcome, and to the staff for being so helpful. It was a perfect Fall evening, and a beautiful wedding.
